A strong earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on Richter scale rocked Fukushima region in eastern Japan on Saturday, the Japan Meteorological Agency revealed.

The tremor emerged off the coast of Fukushima at a depth of 54 kilometers and caused panic in the region..
The quake struck at 23:08 local time and was felt as far away as Tokyo, about 250 kilometers away from the epicenter site. No major damage was reported and no tsunami alert was issued.
There is also no reports of possible disruption at the Tokaimura nuclear facility.

In 2011, a magnitude 9 earthquake caused a 40 meter high tsunami,
killing nearly 16,000 people and destroying the Fukushima Dai-ichi
nuclear power plant. It was the most costly natural disaster in
history with damages of over $300 billion.
