Andreea Cristea, a 31-year-old Romanian woman
who was injured in the vehicle-ramming attack that rocked London on
March 22, has died, said Scotland Yard. She had been hospitalized
for two weeks in critical condition.

The family statement reads: “After fighting for her life for over two weeks, our beloved and irreplaceable Andreea – wonderful daughter, sister, partner, dedicated friend and the most unique and life loving person you can imagine – was cruelly and brutally ripped away from our lives in the most heartless and spiritless way. She will always be remembered as our shining ray of light that will forever keep on shining in our hearts.”
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said he was “deeply saddened to hear of the death of Andreea Cristea”. He tweeted: “Londoners hold her & her loved ones in our thoughts today.”
Andreea Cristea was on a weekend break in the British capital along with her boyfriend Andrei Burnaz who had been planning to pop the question. But the romantic holiday turned into a drama as the couple were on Westminster Bridge when a man crashed his vehicle into the crowd.
Ms. Cristea was run over and thrown into the Thames river before being recovered by rescuers and taken to the hospital. She suffered a brain surgery for a blood clot removal, and her condition appeared to improve. Her lungs began to heal, but she never regained consciousness. Unfortunately she passed away Thursday thus becoming the fifth fatality of the terror attack that ranks as the worst in the UK in the past 12 years.
Khalid Masood rammed pedestrians on Westminster Bridge and then stabbed a officer before being shot dead by law enforcement units. The attack left five people dead and 40 wounded.
According to BBC, the other people killed on the bridge were Aysha Frade, 44, who worked at a London sixth-form college, US tourist Kurt Cochran, 54, from Utah, and retired window cleaner Leslie Rhodes, 75, from south London. Father-of-two PC Keith Palmer was fatally stabbed outside Parliament.
