Anachronism. Misplaced in Time.

I'm so excited about my new collection. I know that few people read my blog, and I'm not very good at keeping it updated. However, I wanted to talk more about this project of mine.I have been sculpting for some time now, I still make the cute and kawaii stuff I usually do, but I always wanted to sculpt figurines so I'm going towards that now. I know the things I make are a little rough but I hope I will get better; they do seem better than the ones I used to do and even throughout this collection you can see that my style improves. I will add another piece every day, as it is ready because I want to take time on each.I don't know what to say about this particular collection other than the fact that it has been quite a journey for me. I feel now that I have a sense of direction in my shy pursuit for art.I used a lot of metallic colors and a lot of geometric shapes. Learning...

This year has been awesome for me in terms of learning new things. I've started sculpting human faces and I've made quite some progress, so I'm proud of myself. I've also started my Etsy store and I'm trying to figure that out too. I hope I will be as inspired this year as the next and wish you all a Happy New Year!These are my latest things that I am really proud to share with whoever is reading my blog.

Sleeping Beauty and The Dream Machine

I have been extremely busy lately and I know I always use that excuse, but I'm working on an actual product line for my store and I've been working on my Fairytales art jewelry collection. I've posted them already on my FB but I'm posting them on my blog too since I decided I'm not going to use FB that much. This particular piece was inspired from The Sleeping Beauty story but I wanted to give it a little twist so I decided I would make it in a biopunk and cyberpunk style with Sleeping Beauty hooked up to machines that feed off her dreams. The theme can be quite dark but I've used playful colors to suggest the dreaming state she is in so the necklace didn't turn out too uncomfortably dark. I've already done other characters but I'm pretty stuck with Cinderella and The Little Mermaid. I wish I could add some dark themes to those but I've been trying to figure out what exactly to add. Sculpted Sleeping Maidens, Goddesses, Empowered Women, etc.

I've been working with this concept of a powerful woman image that I want to add to my jewelry. There's nothing political about it, I just want women to feel proud and empowered when they wear my pieces, or make others feel strong when they offer them as gifts. So these particular pieces have been recreated and reshaped and remade to the point that I feel a bit nauseous when I think about the process. But I'm still trying to find a perfect face that would express a woman being content, happy, strong and mysterious. Still working on that and when I find that perfect face I'm going to make a series of pendants or brooches that can be customized with other details. I also want them to have a bit of an Art Nouveau feel to them, like the carved pendants that were popular in the 19th century. For now I'll just leave you with some of the ones I've come up with during this process. As you can see green is my favorite color :)

I haven't posted anything new because I've been on vacation. I'm really struggling to get back into some form of schedule to make sure I have enough time for my art. The weather has been dreadful and I just couldn't take any good pictures.I've never had problems being inspired but I do struggle to choose one of my ideas I should eventually sculpt. Lately I've been thinking about creating a fairytale series that has a dark biopunk theme. I've done just one for now, it's called The Fairest of them All, so you can guess who it is. This one is not so dark overall, it's quite colorful actually, but it kinda has a creepy vibe to it.

Overseer

This is not new but it's among the latest sets I've made. It's a biopunk inspired set called Overseer. I've made this using crystals, polymer clay, resin and copper. I had so much fun making it, I would love to make another with different colors but I haven't figured out what combinations I would like to use. As I mentioned in another post, I'm inspired by cyberpunk lately, especially biotechnology and I hope this really reflects my current obsession. Another obsession I have nowadays is marine life, especially fossils, but I'll talk about that in another post as some of my creations haven't been cured yet.
