Below is the ETC Summer 2014 program:
From July 3-18 we offer our EFL METHODOLOGY UPDATE
COURSE,
with options of attending the first 4, 6 or all 10
sessions.
From September 1-6 we offer the first part of our EFL
METHODOLOGY UPDATED
and from September 8-11, the second part: INTEGRATED SKILLS
FOR TEACHING PROFESSIONALS,
for those working in challenging situations who wish to
further develop their skills.
On Sunday, September 7, we are offering the "Voice: Your
Excellence in Teaching" Workshop, an 8-hour voice training,
pronunciation and intonation practice workshop for English language
teachers with Irene Theotokatou.

A step-by-step demonstration, lesson planning,
evaluation and feedback workshop. (Active participation by all

ADAPTATION"
Guidelines for evaluating coursebooks and assessing
students' needs, adapting coursebook material and creating
supplementary exercises.
July 14, Monday: "VOCABULARY
BUILDING"
Creative activities on how to present new vocabulary
items. Practical suggestions to get learners to use and to remember
new lexis.
July 15, Tuesday:"TEACHING READING"
Techniques and activities to help learners read a
passage with interest and to help improve
comprehension.
July 17, Thursday: "TEACHING
WRITING"
Practical activities and suggestions to develop
learners' writing skills from the sentence level to the

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
The approach to voice for an EFL teacher is two-fold. It
encompasses both how you teach and what you teach. Firstly, as with
any teacher, your voice is your instrument. It can be a lively and
effective tool for communication, a means to presence and command
in the classroom, a tower of strength that won’t let you down.
Secondly, it is through your voice that you must demonstrate the
language skills you desire to pass on to your students – skills
such as pronunciation and intonation.
This 8-hour workshop aims at both these areas. In the
first part, through the use of physical and vocal exercises, learn
how to improve the vibrancy of your voice; learn how the breath can
support the voice and make it a powerful ally in the classroom;
learn how to preserve and protect your voice so that it doesn’t let
you down and how to nurture it, if it does. The second part is an
intensive one on enhancing your own English language skills. The
work focuses on improving pronunciation and fine-tuning intonation
-- getting the melody right. As an added bonus, you’ll be able to
take some of the exercises with you and apply them in your own
classroom.
