To me, Istanbul is also the city of my friend and being able to celebrate the strong connection that sparkled 8 years ago in Bologna during our Erasmus scholarship is always a gem. We went back to the place where, 4 years ago I've eaten the tastiest figs filled with caimac ever. It's elegant, reasonably priced and yummy.
Citește mai departeYou cannot visit Istanbul without a stopover in the Spuce Bazaar and the Grand Bazaar. The colours, the flavours, the buzz, the offers, the annoying sellers, the souvenirs, the history melt together. You need to negotiate and sometimes that is fun and satisfying but at times the swift sellers catch you in their web and you get outside of the store puzzled, dizzy, but aware that something irrecoverable is missing from your wallet due to your naivete.

Gulhane is one of the most beautiful parks in Istanbul. In its name, there is gul, the rose, which sounds so sweet in Turkish. The same word, in Persian means flower. There are all these rose based products to be sold on the streets of the city: rose water and cream, rose sorbet. Moreover, Gul is also used as a form of endearment for beautiful girls. In a torrid day, the park provides a wonderful green oasis for the travelers, tourists in Istanbul, especially after a visit to Topkapi Place, which is a must. The palace is rich, overwhelming even, with wonderful tiles, large alleys and huge rooms full of historical objects. You can even see hair from the beard of Prophet Mohamed, an amazing collection of vases, clocks, guns, jewelry and the sword of Stephan the great, a Romanian rul

So then it basically comes up to decisions: what to keep and what to ditch. Looking behind, we either idealize or let ourselves caught in melancholy. There's no middle path. I guess I will be posting sequential photos and today I have chosen to start with my last day in Turkey. The anamnesis by definition means to go back and follow the reverse path into the labyrinth. so it all starts with a palace (Dolmabahçe Palace) situated in the Besiktas district of Istanbul. Back in 2014, on my second visit to Istanbul, during a city-break with my girls, we missed that. It covered the dusty floors of my things-to-do-inner-house for more than 4 years. It lays on the European side of the Bosphorus like a pearl and it has splendid g

Abroad I always feel I blossom somehow and I can't even explain to myself why. I have been long thinking that although my roots are here, my crown is elsewhere. I wish I could puck up the courage and go, not because I don't love my country cause I love it to bits and get my eyes teary every time I hear an old folk song or I see the army marching in parades, but because of the calling, the haunting calling of the faraway lands.Anyway, I managed to convince Adina and Alina to join me this time. The flight and accommodation were around 80-90 euros. Quite cheap, but it was extra-season. Two hours and a half of flying and we landed in sunny Cyprus. 20 degrees there, snow here. Easy pick.Cyprus is a land with a tumultuous history. Roman influence, Greek and Turkish history of love and hate, a British colony, and a divided capital... I became fascinated with it and ev

How do I honour a person through cooking?Well, starting with the bits of information you know: almost level 25 in Italian language, fiercely ambitious, a cooking lover, wise like the sage...so I am going to follow this recipe of gnocchi with butter and sage .*in order to personalize it, I used some spinach for 1/4 of the batches
