The sea in you
The sea holds inside so much memory
It could write about all the moon phases,
Late night cries and morning goodbyes,
Describe every child laughter and each lover’s first kiss
And still never finish a whole chapter
The sea catches glimpses of people’s life
But never learns the whole story.
When I stepped into your sea,
The waves welcomed me
And made me, in a matter of a second, forget
About all the pain I was carrying on my feet
Your sea looks at me with wide eyes
And lets me inside its deepest corners
Where I can feel the real you
The identity you refuse to give to anyone else
But me.
I fell in love with the way every sunset
Reflected your soul better
And how you made me feel like home
Even during thunderstorms
Even when I didn’t know
How to hold on to my own heart.
As the morning sun touches your cheeks
I look at you and every inch of my mind
Becomes quiet
As I lean forward
And kiss the love of my life
Your sea is now my home.
