As far as the eye could see towards the east between the mountains on one side and the mountains on the other, the Nichitului stream was rushing with crystal clear water, now through blooming grassland, then through meadows of young birches, willows or alders, and next through large, barren areas of the gravel river sides looking like a many-faced mosaic, while the slating rays of the sun falling on the running crests of its waves were creating the image of a twisting and turning wide, soft silk ribbon with changeable golden glitters.
