Now, it`s time to talk about two of my favorite movies: [rec] 1+2.
You have to have in consideration that both of them were directed by Juame Balagueró and Paco Plaza. Also, there is a thing that`s quite really good if you look at it this way: the 3rd part was directed by Paco and he left his mark putting upfront the zombie “war”, while the 4th part was directed by Juame and his mark was “why is this happening”, the meaning of all. Combined they gave birth to [rec] 1 and 2. But only after seeing all 4 of the movies you will realize these aspects.
I will talk in another post of the other 2 [rec] movies, because they have to be taken separately.
I chose to write about first two altogether because, in my opinion, these are the true [rec]. With a connection and a really good story line.
When [rec] 1 came along on the market i was so intrigued by what it had to offer. I was impressed from the beginning by the trailer and i really looked forward to catch on the screen.
The movie captivated me until the end. It had a new scene to the whole zombie genre, and the fact that it was cam shot, i enjoyed it much more (being a fan of the Blair Witch Project approach), really took it to the next step. The story line was new, and the idea of shooting a fire departments night out was interesting. The plot itself kept you hoping that nothing happens to the “main” characters (Angela Vidal, the cameraman and the firefighters). But oh, the horror, it did happen, to all of them.
When [rec] 2 came along i was more than captivated. And the cam shot style did continue, and more than that, it came from two sides, meeting with the first cam – outstanding thinking. The worried husband, the stupid kids and Angela. captivating on each “camera”.
Plus, when in the end the zombies were all gone and there was a whole new other meaning to all of them, my mind was blown away.
I recommend these two to all of you, even though you are or not horror fans. The human interaction is exquisite. The gore is brilliant. The plot is outstanding.
