Romania introduces voluntary certification scheme “De origine Romania – D.O.R.” for Agri-food Products

The Parliament of Romania recently adopted Law no. 418 on December 28, 2023, establishing the voluntary certification scheme “De origine Romania – D.O.R.” This scheme aims to support the promotion activities of Romanian agri-food products and is applied following the notification procedure outlined in Directive (EU) 2015/1535.

According to the law, the scheme is voluntary and applies to the labeling of agri-food products that use basic raw materials of Romanian origin in the manufacturing process and comply with the requirements set by the law. The competent authority responsible for implementing the scheme is the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR).
